Don't get me wrong. I've laughed at 99% of these videos. I can't wait to show them to my hubby. I just think that since there are at least 8 different types of seizures it seems that the only ones that most of the healthcare employees that I work with in the ER are grandmal seizures. P.S. I think your videos are great in of themselves and that in certain videos the language doesn't need to make it funnier.

I have been so laughing at these videos which have lightened my mood about my own profession. However let me caution you that I have found that both RN and RRT have very limited understanding of the various types of seizures and the different lobes that they originate from. Let's also remember that the mentally ill are often overlooked as not being sick or needing our help when that is quite the contrary. As an RRT-NPS with a lobular brain lesion, I have been that patient who was made fun of.

I have worked in an ER and there are hundreds of patients that come in saying the same thing. It is ridiculous for anyone with real seizure disorders to be offended. These are a different group of people, drug seekers, and Dr.'s are well aware that they are faking because they are repeat offenders. Sorry, I am aware of the technical issues with this video which have developed within the past week. Thank you to all of you who have notified me of the problem. @smcross9 No, she is unaware that anything has happened. It's like a slice of time is removed. However, if she is reading or speaking then she loses her place. This has become a signal to her that she's had a seizure, although as I said she is unaware with regards to any particular sensation or thought. This video was taken about 2 years ago. Fortunately the seizures have since come under control with medication. She has not had a seizure in several months.

@BamBabyBrenda The actual topic of these thoughts I can never remember, but they're just bizzare thoughts. I would also lose concentration if I was speaking. Then I would finally go into the seizure. I probably only would last under 5 seconds, (not sure since it was me) but I had no memory of the seizures. When I was diagnosed I had a 20 second petit mal seizure with some strange hand movement. My mother witnessed this. Previously no one was witness to my seizures.

@BamBabyBrenda: I can't explain to you from outsider's view, but someone who has had them, what happens is very similar to normal seizures in that you have a certain strange feeling beforehand. It can act as a warning, but it's not long enough for say, if you were in a car to pull over. Just long enough to say to someone it's about to happen. I would have a strange smell right before, closest I can can describe is natural gas. Then I would have very strange thoughts (contd)

I had petit mal seizures throughout my childhood that went undiagnosed until I was 16, when I had one in front of my mother incorporated with some strange hand movements. It's interesting to see a child having them, because I can see how easily it is to not notice a child is having them.

Did she or does she ever say anything about having "daymares"? My daughter does some of this and I thought she was just thinking. She talks about having daymares, rather than nightmares, with her eyes open during the day. I asked if it is the way she imagines a story? But she says it's like a nightmare but she's not sleeping. She says sometimes it's about a big spider.

Hi, Thanks for the vid. Great info. I to have hydrocephalus and suffered seizures as an infant. Up until 5 years ago I was seizure free. Since this time I have had 2 seizures on seperate occasions. Most recent, September '09. Simply sitting with my dad and uncle, next thing I know, I'm waking up 9 days later from an induced coma. No clue what had happened. Still have no reason to this day and am back on medication. Thankfully though, I'm still alive to talk about it.

Having seen a LOT of these films, I have to say that the acting is surprisingly good. There's worried concern from the person who knows nothing, and patient observation from the one who does. My fiance is having seizures now, and I've been looking for anything which advises on what to do/what not to do for her. The 5 minute time frame is important, and they don't mention it, but everything else was clear, concise, and conveyed exactly what I needed to know. Kudos.

I had the same.... had them from 3 years till my 7th birthday (which was actually the worse id ever had, I ended up falling which had never happened before) after that I didnt have them again until i was 14 when I had then everyday for about 2 or 3 months then the just stopped again and I havent had one since. That was 5 years ago. Hope Jordan is like me and grows out of them.

You're lucky in the UK you have to be seizure free (from any type so auras included) for a year before the DVLA will even allow you to drive. It's really irritating because I get to a year or almost and then it happens so I have to wait all over again.

these seizures do hurt and are terrible. After I had my first conic tonic I did alot of research and watched videos see what it really looked like. Watching this video scared me and made me cry deep inside and honestly if you have a friend or see somebody go down like this just help catch them to the ground and protect their head. I was put on dialatin and messed me up terrible so now I'm on Keppra and feel more myself than anything. Realized my whole life and future is changed by this too. :(

wrong. i have epilepsy and some of this info is incorrect. for example, breathing is not shallow or labored. you dont breath AT ALL. thats part of why it actually IS a life threatening disorder. that was another incorrect thing in the video. seizures can kill you if they go on for too long. thats why people get sent to the hospital. also, these kind of seizures are painful afterwards. you get massive headaches and sometimes you bite your tongue really hard. the info in this video is not right.

i have these seizures often, i have epilepsy, and if i forget to take my medication even once i can have a seizure. the hand movements and everything are so close to how mine are before i black out that it actually scares me to watch, like it makes me feel like i might fall into a seizure.

When I was first diagnosed I was prescribed Lamictal. But I hated those because they dissolved as soon as I put them in my mouth. I've since been prescibed Lamotrigine. They seem a little better as they don't melt as quickly. They both do a good job at keeping me stable as long as I remember to take them regularly and on time.

@Donroomba i have never lost conciousnsess during any sort of seizure, in fact it feels very strange, almost like time stopped for a moment, and this strange thing (the seizure) is happening. i really wish i WAS of the majority that did, it wouldn't be so scary to me. i remember my very first at age 5, could hear family frantically going for the phone, and my late grandma was holding me, telling me it'll be ok. i remember all of it.

Laughing like crazy that they would not even let the woman have water! It is natural to want something to drink after a seizure... Nothing wrong at all about drinking something after a seizure, my daughter has had up to 80-120 seizures a day when she was young and always got something to drink after a series of them....to deny her something to drink was cruel! (thankfully my daughter only has about 5 seizures a day now and yes she still gets thirsty afterward and drinks!)

@poosaypirate If you give water or food to someone who just had a seizure they can easily choke if they have another one! Same thing if someone hits their head...if there is a chance that the person is going to go unconscious then you should never put anything in their mouth...hope that helps :)

wow, what a really nice guy. There were plenty of other people to look after the lady but he chose to help also. you can tell in his face he was sincere when he was talking to her and asked her if she was alright. nothin to do about cameras .
